Organ Recovery
Organ Recovery
For small intestine:

Cross-clamp and flush with UW/HTK.
Recover the small intestine.
For large intestine:
If possible, do not ligate the inferior mesentric artery prior to cross-clamp and flush. Cross-clamp and flush with UW/HTK.
Recover the large intestine.
Submerge in chilled UW/HTK - do not wrap in surgical towel. Triple bag the tissue.

Label the specimen bag with project code, tissue, size and donor number
Package on wet ice and maintain at 2-8 °C until shipment. Contact NDRI immediately following procurement.
