Cleaning
Cleaning
Immediately after an experiment, run the Pump Cleaning protocol on your OGI BioReactor by selecting Pump Cleaning > Start Cleaning in the BioReactor menu.
Put the input ends of the tubing (on the right-hand side of each pump) in a bottle with 70% ethanol, and the output ends in an empty bottle.
Follow the instructions on the LCD screen to turn the pumps on and pump ethanol through the tubing for at least 30 seconds.
Stop the pumps as instructed on the LCD screen and swap the bottle with ethanol for a bottle with ultrapure water.
Follow the instructions on the LCD screen to turn the pumps on and pump water through the tubing for at least 60 seconds.
Without turning the pumps off, remove the input ends of the tubing from the water and let the pumps run until there is no more fluid coming out of the output ends.
Follow the instructions on the LCD screen to stop the pumps.
Sterilisation
Sterilisation
Prior to autoclave-sterilization, cover the ends of the tubing in tinfoil and secure with autoclave tape.
Autoclave at 121 °C, do not remove the tinfoil covering the ends until the tubing needs to be used again. This ensures that the ends of the tubing remain sterile until use.

The tubing should be replaced after 5 autoclave cycles.
