Abstract
Patient samples will be obtained during an elected cesarean (c-section) delivery. We will enroll an equal number of male and female fetuses.
Inclusion
  • Between the age of 18-50 years of age
  • Currently having a single birth (e.g. one baby)
  • Pregnancy is the result of natural conception
  • Elected for physician to perform a cesarean section for delivery
  • Pregnancy reaches full term (≥ 37 weeks)
Exclusion
  • Pregravid BMI > 35
  • Any health conditions including diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, or inflammatory disease
  • Any history of preeclamptic or complicated pregnancy prior to current pregnancy
