Wear nitrile gloves cleaned with RNase Zap wipe.
Using RNase Zap wipes, clean microtome including any surface block or hands may contact (block holder, knife holder, handle, etc.).
Using RNase Zap wipes, clean glass Pyrex water bath insert and rinse with deionized water. Fill with deionized water and heat per usual.
For ice tray, using RNase Zap wipes, clean ice tray. For ice block, at least 24hrs prior to sectioning, using RNase Zap wipes, clean plastic ice container and rinse with deionized water. Fill with deionized water and put in -20°C freezer. To use, cover ice with enough deionized water that the blocks will not freeze to ice.
Using RNase Zap wipes, clean forceps and brushes/applicator sticks.
**This step will need to be repeated between each block.**
Using RNase Zap wipes, clean slide racks that will hold unstained slides.
