Abstract
This protocol details the intramuscular PFF injection procedure.

Materials:
  • PFF: 1 mg/mL
  • Sonication: 1 Second (on/off); 120 Seconds, Amplitude – 20%
  • Dose: 5 mL/side
  • Dental Needle (27G)
  • Hamilton Syringe (x2)
  • Sterile Saline
  • Alcohol wipes
  • Procedure record forms
  • Tubing
  • Heating pads (x2)
  • Clean cages
  • Isoflurane and desiccator
Procedure
Procedure
Clean the procedure hood.
Turn on the heating pad and cover it with a blue procedure pad.
Connect dental needle with tubing.
Fill up PBS into the tubing using a small syringe.
Insert the Hamilton Syringe into the tube for 2-3 mm.
Create air gap between saline solution and PFF solution.
Keep mouse inside desiccator w/ isoflurane until breath becomes long and slow.
Two separate people should inject each respective Bicep femoralis of the mouse simultaneously.
Perform injection with animal on warm pad and keep clean recovery cage on separate heating pad until animal recovers.
Wipe needle with alcohol wipes between sample draw/mouse injection.
