Abstract
Fecal sample collection from mice to use for gut microbiome sequencing analysis.
Set up the experiment by arranging clean cages without food, water or bedding. It is advisable to label each cage to avoid confusion later on.
In front of each cage, place a glass filled with dry ice and a 1.5ml Eppendorf tube to speed up collection. Use plastic forceps each cage. Avoid using the same forceps to avoid contamination between samples.
Place the mice in their respective cages.
Collect all fecal pellets produced, and place it on the tube on dry ice. Do not collect pellets that were in urine or dried up pellets.
Transfer quickly the tube into a -80 degree fridge until DNA extraction.
